The Manager II, CMC Disability Claims, is assigned to manage a team of LTD Case Managers who are responsible for a caseload of claims and is responsible for reviewing, investigating and making liability determinations for Long Term Disability claims.  The Manager is responsible to ensure timely and appropriate case management of claims of moderate and most complexity. Provide immediate mentoring and feedback to staff, address claimant-level service issues with both claimants and local employer representatives. Assist Manager in addressing larger workflow and staffing issues within unit. 
 
Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for day to day supervision of a unit of Disability Claim Case Managers to ensure appropriate, accurate and timely management of long term disability claims.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, performance management, and technical development of staff.
  • Monitor performance of Case Managers and provide immediate feedback on claims management and customer service.
  • Approve/deny liability on all claims as required by policies and procedures.
  • Perform random quality audits to maintain departmental standards.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to within unit.
  • Monitor workflow and meeting of performance guarantees at the case manager level.  Address immediate service issues and assist Manager II in new business installation issues as well as renewal issues.
  • Focus on claim process and provide suggestion for improvement.  In conjunction with Manager, implement improvements.
  • Accountable for staff development by identifying developmental needs and opportunities and working with staff throughout development.

 

 Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience, plus 6-10 + years Long Term Disability Claims case management experience.
  • 3-5 + years experience supervising claims case managers required.
  • Demonstrated customer service, mentoring, leadership, organizational, problem solving, and advanced case management skills required .
