Postdoctoral Associate

Buffalo, New York ~ November 15, 2021

The research lab of Dr. Adelaiye-Ogala, within the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology is actively seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. The research is deeply focused on investigating underlying mechanisms driving therapeutic resistance in genitourinary cancers with emphasis on prostate cancers and leveraging information gained to identify optimal therapeutic strategies to better manage the disease. The lab uses multi-omics approaches combined with preclinical experimental data in clinically relevant cell lines and patient derived xenograft (PDX) and/or organoids to gain mechanistic insights into drivers of lethal disease. In addition, the lab provides tools for precision medicine and evaluates new treatment modalities through animal studies. Bench techniques used in the lab includes; Gene expression and 2D/3D chromatin profiling, cell engineering, western blot, PCR/qRT-PCR, 2D/3D cell cultures, and histology/IHC.  Other techniques include small molecule/drug screens and animal studies using PDX models. 
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Develop and perform experiments to elucidate molecular mechanisms
  • Development and maintenance of cell lines organoids and PDX
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Evaluate therapy-induced/dose responses in cell lines, organoids and animal models
  • Present scientific findings at department seminars, regional and national meetings
  • Write scientific manuscripts, reports and research proposals
A successful candidate for this position is a highly motivated and exceptionally organized team player with good communication skills. Strong language and writing English skills are also important. Qualitative research knowledge, proven experience in collaborating across disciplines, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently is a plus. Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding performance throughout their previous studies with their own publications.
